It's a gray day here in southeast Iowa.

Last night, perhaps too amped up by the excitement of returning to my daily routine, my body decided sleep was "so passé." But I think I came up with a title for my second poetry collection: Now Departing.

From my office window, I can see the boldly rising leaves of lilies, a lot like the bushy potential of daffodils in the front yard. They are persevering despite the lack of sunlight. So shall I! And we all will hope not to have our buds bitten off by rodents.

How's everyone today?

Now Departing is a great title.

Your description of the bold daffodils is great--reminds me Wakanomori's translation of a tanka by Tawara Machi, a great modern-day Japanese tanka poet. It's about bok choy, with their red belts around their waists (sort of like sumo belts):

Hefty bok choy
lined up shoulder to shoulder
in bright red belts
jostling each other to be first
at the front of the shop

I'm doing okay; I'm revising my novelette-lengthed short story. (Not today though; today I'm doing boring editing)

How's your recovery coming?

Holy crap; I didn't realize that image was going to appear so big when I linked to it--feel free to delete that comment of mine if it's breaking your page.

I didn't see your tweets! Really glad to hear the good news. No pain is good :-)

That is an excellent title.

I've finally been putting together my book of poems and short fiction. Close to done, I think! But I still need to think about titles.

Thanks! I may take you up on that. (And don't worry about the chapter response...I remember how long it took me for my brain to go back online after my surgery!)

I like that!

Badly underslept and behind on work, but there's beautiful sunlight in Somerville. I'll have to get back to you on the local daffodils.

I'm usually terrible with titles. Sounds like I hit upon a keeper this time!

I would contest the "usually terrible with titles" part, but Now Departing is a really good one!

Speaking of collections, I just purchased GHOST SIGNS.

Thank you! I hope you enjoy it.

I hope the sunlight helped. I know I appreciated the golden rays when our sky cleared this afternoon.

It does help! I hope you can get some sleep soon, too.

Report from my mother's front yard: the daffodils after having been slaughtered in the recent April Fool's Day Blizzard Redux are making a comeback.
